hey, i know you and itsjustsomchai have a conversation going on between yourselves but i just wanted to say it's really not cool that you are perpetuating the joke about asian accents with that MLP picture. i understand that itsjustsomchai is asian too but that's still kind of a poor reflection on the rest of us and feeds into the 'asians can't speak english' stereotype.

okay but neither one of us made that image it was someone from the brony fandom so like wtf and to think either one of us would do some shit like that is insulting as fuck

Wow are seriously? Why are you being defensive? I’m not trying to pick fights with you or whatever, and I have been a fan of you for a while so it’s pretty disappointing you’d act this way. You are circulating a picture that makes a joke of asian accents and how “asian people talk” and that’s really not cool. It’s not. Despite being a native english speaker I still have people praise my language skills because of my race. As a kid my mom had me check over her resumes and emails to possible jobs because she always felt like her language skills were inferior despite knowing 3 different language and being taught english since grade school. I’ve had people make fun of her ‘accent’ right in front of my face. I’ve had people throw that crap in my face when they try to insult me. When I say it’s not cool, it comes from very real and personal experiences. Instead of sitting here saying I’m trying to insult you, why don’t you just think about what you reblog next time? I didn’t even ask you to remove or edit the picture. All I was saying if that you should reflect a little more about how that makes other people feel when they see stuff like that. If that’s too much just go ahead and let me know and I’ll kindly unfollow you right now.

I’m no circulating anything. I made a post talking about a show is making fun of bronies. Somchai says good because they attacked his show. I asked what did they do, and he showed me the picture of what THEY did not neither one of us.

I’m not even picking a fight i’m confused about how your jumping to conclusions about what we are allegedly doing.

I really don’t care if you unfollow me if you’re not going to bother to get a grasp of what the fuck is going on.

Had you understood anything you could say hey can you not post what the Bronies did because I find it very offensive to look at. Not “HEY YOU’RE PROMOTING ANTI-ASIAN BEHAVIOR” because we weren’t jfc

It’s ridiculous you say I don’t understand and I’m taking things out of context you’re putting words in my mouth. I never said or implied either of you made the picture and I never said or implied you were “anti asian”. I said the MLP picture was in poor taste and circulating it (ie. reblogging) isn’t cool. That’s it. Literally.

Why you feel the need to make this dramatic is beyond me. I clearly don’t know the entire context of your conversation because i’ve got a lot of other things going on on my dash and sometimes it’s hard to keep up, but from where I was at, it just seemed like a “joke” about a show - hence my ask.

And to clarify this further since both of us seem to have a communication breakdown - that’s not me saying that either of you were making the joke itself, just that as you were talking about MLP this picture was brought up. Then reblogged it.

As someone who’s had to deal with this shit extensively all I was asking was to please think about it before reblogging stuff like that.

I’m not actually even sure why you are angry at me when I didn’t even accuse you of anything but whatever. If it was so obvious to you that I was confused/misinterpreting the situation, why didn’t you just reply back saying “hey i think you got us wrong, this is what happen.”? It’s pretty disappointing that even if this was a “misunderstanding” on my part you couldn’t explain my mistake without getting defensive and the fact that you aren’t even trying to see things from my POV. I’m not on anon, I’m not an empty blog, I’m an actual person that’s been following you for a while now and I was just asking you to take into consideration what someone else might think. (and I thought i did it politely too)

But whatever, there’s no point to this if you are just going to curse me out and type in all caps as if that makes your view more valid or something.

ok you unfollowed me good
then you’ll stop tone policing me
i yelled at you because you were wrong and the photo wasn’t even making fun of Asian accents as said by Somchai who knows the reference.

i don’t care whether or not you did it politely when i told you you were you gave me a paragraph of more wrong shit. and just because someone reblogs something that’s racist, if the context is critiquing it that doesn’t mean said person is perpetuating anything.

k bye

lol sad as hell when a fellow poc claims to be intersectional but when someone comes to you with a concern you tell them to fuck off. although it’s pretty obvious now when you reblogged or wrote quite a few posts expressing thanks to ‘all your followers’ then as soon as one comes up off anon and say something isn’t cool you get super defensive then turn around and say “i don’t care about my non mutuals.” Well,
OK then.

I mean you are sitting here telling me I’m wrong, I don’t understand, there’s context behind it etc etc then don’t go on to explain what it is and pepper your posts with profanities directed at me; somehow that’s supposed to magically make me ‘get’ everything and things are supposed to be ok? What?

You sit there and say that the conversation or the picture is supposed to be in critique of racist behavior except that there wasn’t actually a critique there. It was a conversation between two friends bsing and a picture in poor taste sandwiched between. The comments didn’t really reflect anything and there was no tags so it’s ambiguous at best to say there was an actual critique going on.

It’s equally ridiculous that you sit here and say I’m doing stuff I’m not - tone policing, appropriating AAVE, accusing you of anti asian sentiments. That’s stretching pretty far on all accounts.

You have to be purposely obtuse if you don’t see where I’m coming from then try to turn the situation around and make it like I’m the one acting problematic.

You viewed a conversation, we were critiquing the use of the picture first of all. And honestly the picture itself wasn’t even making fun of Asian Accents as Somchai said and as I reblogged which you seem to have missed but apparently saw everything else directed to you.

Secondly, saying that you responded politely and I didn’t and trying to make an argument against me out of that fact is tone policing. And you were appropriative aave talking about “Okay girl… ain’t nobody…” t

You weren’t acting problematic, you were being annoying by assuming a conversation you were not involved in had anything to do with what you THOUGHT it was. There was nothing about Asian accents involved until you sent your ask and I’m like okay maybe that was? But neither one of us were talking about that we were critiquing how bronies were mocking his favorite show. I gave you the benefit of the doubt because like maybe I did miss something but no, Somchai quickly said that “wry” wasn’t even mocking Asian accents it was making a reference to the show.

And the same way you just got angry about me accusing you of tone policing and appropriating aave was the same way I responded when you accused me of mocking Asian accents when the discussion of such had never happened.

The critique was regarding the image as negative, so even if it was about asian accents we were never in support of the image from the beginning.

This is why jumping into conversations that were not involving you is sometimes a bad idea.

And I said I don’t care about my non mutuals because it’s always non mutuals threatening to unfollow me like I give a damn.

I didn’t/don’t see what your friend posted because I don’t follow him/her and they didn’t reblog from me directly so I didn’t get a notice on my dash. I wasn’t even aware they were saying anything outside of your personal conversation. The only comment I’ve seen is "I’m pissed they’d think I’d insult my own race like that plus idk what they’re even talking about in the first place."

Secondly I’m from the south. EVERYBODY uses girl, girlfriend, honey, etc. when referring to women and EVERYBODY except tourists uses ain’t. I’m from the country. That’s just how we speak. I’m not trying to make myself look cool or pass myself off as something I’m not.

Third, I didn’t tell you to change or alter how you spoke to me and didn’t ask that you treat me better, just that I was surprised at how you handled that situation telling me I’m “insulting as fuck” and to fuck off when I really don’t think i’ve done anything to warrant that kind of reaction. I didn’t even ask you to remove the picture or conversation, didn’t ask you to tag it, didn’t ask you to put additional comments in your original conversation - nothing. My ‘tone policing’ as you put it, is basically me saying “wow, over reaction much?” to you yelling and cussing me out because I sent an ask saying “hey could you maybe think before posting a picture like that because - reasons.”

Because i wasn’t sure about the nature of the post, I have been trying and going out of my way to be polite since up until now, I’ve never seen you act negatively towards or about asian people. I googled joestarr family and got a bunch of japanese anime/manga pictures. The asian accent thing came from the pic itself and looking like the pony was being compared to those characters and screaming “WRRRYY”. Once again I’m not saying that either of you made the joke just but that it was posted in the middle of the conversation.

The picture is offensive - because reasons, as I’ve gone over time and again. Just going forward, could you think about stuff like that before posting it. That’s all. Seriously, I don’t get how that’s a hard concept.

The picture by itself is an issue. The commentary that was there is ambiguous in it’s critique of the racism, and if there was any additional commentary on the matter, it wasn’t something I could see as your follower who got regular updates from you. I sent an ask, off anon, because I just wanted to raise awareness with a concern. It’s not me putting myself in the conversation that doesn’t involve me. It was me asking for a little consideration. Thanks for letting me know that something like that is asking too much.
